The site is strongly defined
by the heterogeneous dynamic of the area next to the city
centre: the avenue, adjoining buildings morphology, nearby
green areas. This complex morphology is used to establish
a more complex passage between the public space of Celovška
Street and the building's program. On the north-eastern and
south-eastern side we follow the geometry of existing building
structure which opens up a plaza towards Celovška Street,
a medium of communication between the public and semi-public
space. On the street regulation line, the structure is enveloped
into a lacy membrane, emphasising the specific programme.
Expression scale of the envelope is set to driver's perception;
the building communicates with city on the ground floor level
through its program - the plaza and library/cafe, both oriented
towards the street. Interior volumes are not structured according
to function but rather form a monolith, thus expressing the
program's specifics. |
