The composition of the
House MARLES GEN-2 was devised with the idea of a "concept
car for the Frankfurt Fair", therefore a "concept house for
Ljubljana Fair DOM" that explores the limits of the use of
wooden structures in residential construction. The working
name of the studio was Murcielago - connoisseurs of gasoline
vapors will know what that is. While communicating with Marles's
development department we increasingly became aware that the
benefits we took for extreme are in fact completely normal
for the manufacturing world of wood. Wood has proven to be
a building material easily capable of handling demanding architectural
compositions, which brought us to the idea that "conceptual
house" can in fact get a real price and go into serial production.
So continued the story of GEN 2 house - a house for two generations.
The composition that ensued comprises two residential units:
the larger unit is used by the generation that "produces",
the smaller is alternatively used by two generations - either
by those who embark on their own for the first time or those
that enjoy the fruits of autumn life. This way, the house
regains importance of the home where generations follow each
other. Every generation has its own wing and its own garden.
The house can grow or shrink modularly, and adjust to terrain
topography. |
